MBAs participate & win in VISTA 2017, IIM Bangalore

Fifteen MBA Students participated in one of the largest B-school summits in India – VISTA 2017, the Annual Business Summit of IIM Bangalore. The lush green campus and stone brick walls of IIM Bangalore welcomed over 15,000 participants this year. It had a wide array of events spanning all business domains, speaker series with industry veterans & workshops on the hot topics from the business world.

In the Treasure Hunt Event – “Around the Bin 90 minutess” which had participation from students of colleges all over India, second year students of Sahyadri MBA - Sri Harikrishna, Prajna, Samhitha, Vaishnavi won first place with a cash prize of Rs. 4,000

Our students participated in a workshop titled – “Story Telling for influence” and atleast 3 events from Qriosity, Bizzare, Comic Strips, Numero Uno, Retail Marketing, Convexity Calls, Fame in 60 seconds, Design Thinking, Stock & Investment, Effective Marketing & Excel.

Apart from participating in various other events and blending with the IIM students, Sahyadrians interacted with the IIM faculty and had an exceptionally special experience.

MBAs participate & win in Atharv 2017, IIM Indore, Cultural cum Management & Literary Festival, Indore

Twelve MBA Students participated in one of the biggest fest in Central India – Atharv 2017, the Cultural, Management and Literary fest of IIM Indore. Management and literary events have encouraged the budding managers and entrepreneurs to put on their thinking caps. Marketing & HR events have provided a great platform to our students to flex their intellectual muscles.

Resume Writing Workshop facilitated by MBAs

In addition to being on top of university curriculum, Sahyadri MBA gives experiential learning opportunities to students which provide them plenty to talk about in job interviews. It also gives them a chance to take the theories & strategies they have learnt in the classroom and put them into practice.

Athmeeya & Sangeetha K from the second year MBA facilitated a Resume Writing workshop for the first year MBA students. These real-world opportunities take our students beyond the classroom. Their session covered - the mandatory components in a Resume, a sample format, DO’s and DONT’s in drafting a Resume. Workshop concluded with the Q&A session. As a follow up action, first years have submitted first draft of their Resume’s to the seniors who will then revert with corrections if any, before preparing the Final Resume.

Similarly, Aptitude Test, GD Round and Face2Face Interview rounds will be conducted by the final year MBA HR students for the 1st year students of MBA. This shall expose the first year students to their forthcoming Job interview process in return shall also contribute to polishing the HR skills of the final year students.

MBAs receive a Consultation Project at Epitas, LLP, Mangaluru

Epitas, LLP, having its business office in the campus of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) Mangaluru, would be taking up projects on Robotics soon. In order to understand the market in and around Mangaluru, they would like to conduct a research on Robotics in specific sectors like Banking, Manufacturing, IT, Academic Institutions and so on. They have approached Sahyadri MBA to depute students who would take up this assignment as a Consultation Project in teams of two. Students would design a Questionnaire, Administer the Questionnaire & Collect Data, Analyze the Data, Prepare the Report and also present the Market Research findings to Epitas LLP. These students shall not only be awarded with a certificate, appreciating their efforts, but will also be evaluated for the “Best Team Project Award”. The institution shall be given a letter of appreciation for the support rendered through students & mentors. Prof. Sushma V, Prof. Deepak Bangera & Prof. Samarth Shenoy from the Department of Business Administration shall mentor these projects.

MBAs attend NHRD Showcase in Bengaluru

Aditya Rao, Nehal Sheth, Fiola DSouza, Sanmathi Jain, Jackson, Kalpitha Acharya, Nageshwara Pai & Ninad Joshi - students of first year MBA attended the NHRD showcase held in Bengaluru. Students participated in various sessions facilitated by renowned HR practitioners.

The NHRD Showcase also consists of stalls by different organizations where they compete for awards in different categories for the innovative HR practices in their organizations. Students interacted with HR practitioners in these stalls and understood the different practices of HR followed in different organizations and also networked with HR professionals.

The NHRD HR Showcase is a signature event of the NHRD Bengaluru Chapter and is shaped to bolster the enduring spirit of the HR practices. The Showcase is a platform to present HR excellence, spanning a range of unique sensibilities, from an intellectual re-imagining of concepts and cultures to an intuitive adaptability for significant business impact.

Final year MBA Students attend Shraddha'17

Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru had organized Shraddha’17 – Seminar for Post Graduate Students on the topic “Awakening Inner Strength” in the Ashrama auditorium. The One-Day Seminar started with a formal inaugural ceremony in the presence of Swami Jitakamanandaji Maharaj, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru, Revered Swami Shantatmanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, Mr. Pramod Madhvaraj, Honourable Minister for Fisheries, Sports & Youth Affairs, Govt of Karnataka, Mr. J R Lobo, Honourable MLA, Mangaluru South Chief Guest for the programme and Mr. V. Srinivas, CEO, Illuminate Knowledge Resources, Mumbai.

The first session was handled by Revered Swami Shantatmanandaji Maharaj, on the topic “Awakening Inner Strength”. In his speech, he stressed on “Atma Shradha” which meant “Faith in one’s potential”. He gave examples of several eminent personalities and shared their inspiring life stories. He beckoned the students to work towards nation building activities.

The second session was by Mr. Srinivas.V, who leads a team at “Illuminate Knowledge Resources”, a design lab and consulting firm specializing in architecting design collectives in various Institutional and community settings. He spoke on the topic “Growth with Roots – A Vision for our Careers”. He spoke about the challenges and opportunities in front of students. He emphasized that “It is not the Profession that matters, but the Mindset”. He asked the Gen-Next to be a job creator than a mere job seeker in the wake of ever changing industry requirements. He also gave away few success mantras to students to succeed in their lives.

Prof. K Raghothama Rao delivered the last session on “Realize your Potential”. He has over two decades of teaching and training experience, having trained students, teachers and corporate, both in India and abroad. He is the Director of MANAS Centre for Training & Development, Bengaluru & Director of Human Networking Academy. He inspired students to put in more efforts to realize their dreams. He conducted several activities in order to invoke and unleash the hidden talents of students. About 100 final year MBA students along with five faculty members attended the programme.

MBAs attend a Talk on Professional Managers

Prajwal Kaverappa M N, Akshay Kumar from 2nd year MBA and Sari Ganesh from 1st year MBA attended the “Dialogues on Professional Managers” organized for PG students by MSNM Besant Institution of PG Studies, Mangaluru. Mr. Prakash Padukone, Director of TATA Padukone Badminton Academy & Mr. Leeladhar, Former Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India were the resource persons. Mr. Padukone, Badminton Legend spoke about the precious moments of his life in sports and how he overcame the hurdles to achieve in the field of Badminton. He said there is no gain without pain, and to achieve certain things, we should be ready to sacrifice some things. Instead of harping about the rotten system, we should strive to become the best. He informed that his academy provides opportunity for everyone interested in the game of Badminton to get trained.

MBA students interview a Business Icon on the Success Story

As a field based learning during vacation, four of the MBA students Dhanya Shree, Prajwal Karkera, Sayona Joseph and Pharesh Salian interviewed Mr. Darshan Jain, one of the partners of ACE Promoters & Developers, a well-known construction company in Mangaluru which is engaged in building Residential Apartments and Commercials. They had an experience sharing session wherein our students were walked through the journey of Mr. Darshan Jain from being employed in a private bank to an Entrepreneur. During the course of the discussion, he induced them to be a Job creator rather than a Job seeker. Our students were taken on a tour of ACE Promoters & Developer’s upcoming projects and answered all queries they had regarding a Real Estate Business.

They were also invited to be a part of the company’s promotional activity headed by Mr. Karimbil Kannan Nair, Business Development Manager, ACE Promoters & Developers, so that they get a practical exposure to Marketing strategies carried out for the sale of their upcoming projects. Our students volunteered to join hands with ACE in their two-day promotional activity in one of the leading Banks of Mangalore. This gave an insight on how to identify a potential customer without wasting time and effort on the individuals who are not keen on doing business with them. Our students were enlightened on the various marketing as well as pricing strategies adopted by a construction industry. They were introduced to “Throw the Box Strategy” (Innovative & Creative marketing techniques) to approach potential customers. The two-day experience aided our students to initiate their own marketing strategies for their Start-Up in the near future.

ACE Promoters & Developers were delighted with the overwhelming collaborative effort in the promotional activity and gave away certificates for a commendable job during the two days along with a letter of appreciation to Sahyadri MBA for grooming the students and providing opportunities to acquire utmost learning from the situations, success and failure stories around them.

MBA students attend a web-cast session

Second Year MBA Marketing students attended a web-cast session on 'Media Planning & Buying' by Ogilvy & Mather experts. Session covered the following concepts:

  • Introduction to the concept of Media Planning
  • Techniques involved and use of theoretical concepts
  • Career options and scope
  • Skill-set/ courses required
  • Expert opinion on entrepreneurial ambitions in the field

The session was conducted by Mr. Altamash Khan who has over 6 years of experience in digital marketing having core expertise in digital media planning and buying, digital media strategy, social media marketing, content marketing, programmatic & audience buying, email marketing. He is also well versed with digital tools like ComScore, Google AdWords, Google Analytics, Facebook R&F and Adgooroo and has cleared Google AdWords Certification twice. Has experience of working on brands across diverse categories majorly FMCG, Auto, Entertainment, BFSI, Retail, Real Estate & Travel amongst others. Currently, he works with Maxus India (GroupM) as a Business Manager handling the complete brand portfolio of Garnier. He has also worked in HBO, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Starbucks India. He has an experience of lecturing & training in the past 2 years in multiple institutes covering digital marketing topics.

Second Year MBA Marketing students attended a web-cast session on 'Import Export and International Business' by Mr. Paras Mehta, Chartered Accountant. Session covered the following concepts:

  • How International Business takes place
  • How to setup Import Export Company
  • Dynamics of Trade Business









Mr. Mehta, has been through diversified experience in a very short span of time. He has been into Company law, International Trade, Direct taxation, GST, Startups consultant and as legal advisor.

The session was organized in association with Webind. Certificates were issued to the student participants at the end of the session.

MBA students secure Runners Up in the Management fest

MBA students secure Runners Up in the Management fest organised by Shree Devi Institute of Technology, Mangalore. Sixteen students from MBA department participated in various events during the management fest like Icebreaker, Human Resource, Marketing, Finance and Best Manager. It's a great moment to win the Runners up Trophy amongst participants from twenty one colleges of various cities & states including Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering conducted Sentia-2016, a State level inter-collegiate fest on 24 and 25 of March, 2016.
Paresh, Prajwal, Akshay, Sharook and Dheeraj won 1st place in Mixed bag event.
Chethan Anil Pinto, Satyajeeth and Sayona A joseph secured 2nd in Managers blend event.
Sahyadri college of Engineering and Management were the runners up of the fest.

MBA Students bag Second place in Strategic Management event of a Management Fest-Cross Roads

Mr Vishnu Prasad , 4th Sem MBA and Ms Renita D Cunha , 2 ndSem MBA have clinched second position in the strategic management event- Illuminati in Management fest organized by Department of business administration, Mangalore University, Mangalagangotri. It is national level business schools meet where students from various region participate with enthusiasm and learn the art of multi tasking, time management, soft skills, pressure handling and communication.

Students Present Research Paper in UGC Sponsored National Conference

A research paper titled " Green Marketing Strategies: A Literature Review on Creating Value" authored by Mr. Karthik Raj Kudroli, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration and co-authored by Ms. Dhruvi Kothari and Ms. Jeslin James, second year MBA students was presented in the UGC sponsored National Conference held at SDM College of Business Management, Mangaluru.



MBA Alumnus wins Performance Award at Deloitte, Hyderabad

Avinash Gonsalves, an alumnus of Sahyadri MBA (Batch 2012-14) wins Performance Award at Deloitte, Hyderabad. He is a certified VBA Developer. He has received this award for his learning ability and contribution towards team’s target-driven performance. He developed macros for a complicated task on MS Excel within a week of joining Deloitte which adds to the list of his achievements in the organization. Avinash works in the consulting process of Deloitte dealing with Budget Forecast, Journal Entries - Reclass, Accrual, Year End reversal, Profit & Loss & Balance Sheet.

MBA alumnus receives a recognition Award

Mr. Achutha Shenoy K, Audit Associate at KPMG GDC , an alumnus of the Department of Business Administration (2014-16 batch) has been awarded the Above & Beyond award at the Q3 FY 16-17 Rewards & Recognition ceremony held at KPMG GDC, Bangalore.

The Above & Beyond Award is the most prestigious award at KPMG. It is awarded to the employees who serve the clients requirements and is recognized for rendering the best of services to the US Onshore team thus meeting the deadlines of the audit work received.

Mr. Bill Tomazin, KPMG Partner, gave the award to Mr. Achutha and congratulated him on the feedbacks he has received from the US Onshore team for his continuous dedication and hard work shown on the different audit areas worked on. MBA Alumna wins CEO Award 2017 at Allcargo Logistics, Mumbai

Swetha Shetty, an alumna of MBA Batch 2012 - 2014 who is currently working at Allcargo Logistics, Mumbai has been awarded with the CEO Award, the most prestigious award in All India Level of the organization for her Outstanding Performance for the year 2017. She is the youngest to have received this award till date. Swetha was placed by Sahyadri at Allcargo Logistics, Mumbai in the year 2014 as a Management Trainee and now she has been promoted as an Assistant Manager handling training for the new Management Trainee’s who join the organization. She has been appreciated profoundly for her commitment & dedication towards work since she has not taken a single leave during the last 1.5 years.

MBA Alumnus wins Best Performer award during Training in VIVO

Harsharaj Rai, an alumnus of Sahyadri MBA (2015-17) wins "The Best Performer in Team Building Activities Award" during the first one month of Training at VIVO. He was placed by the institution for the role of a Sales Team Leader.

VIVO has all its recruits every year undergo a one month training at VIVO College in Bengaluru. It had over 100 students recruited from various colleges of Karnataka this year and Harsharaj Rai stood out for his active participation in events & management games. He is now placed in VIVO Bengaluru Rural Region and has 15 outlets under his supervision.
