An Alumni Symposium titled “ThinkTank Meet on the Post Covid Era- The New Normal” was organised by the Dept. of Business Administration. Think Tank included 7 eminent speakers and Alumni of the MBA dept.

Think Tank Meet on the Post Covid Era- New Normal paved a way for Mr. Nishar Hussain to recollect his memories of Sahyadri. He said the world faced recession in 2000s and came up with many solutions. Temporarily, it is true that we are facing many problems but it will not stay for a long period of time. He said we need to update with the current technology to achieve success in career.Nishar started his career with Hyundai Motors India Ltd.as sales consultant. He was recognized by the company for his achievement as he had a great passion for cars and other vehicles. After working there for a couple of years he went to Oman and joined KIA motors. At present, he is working as a Business Development Executive with ISUZU QATAR looking after sales and marketing for entire Qatar region.

Dr. Anandsa Habib 2008-10 batch

Dr. Anandsa Habib, Audit Officer, Karnataka State Audit and Accounts Department, Vijayapur gave insight into how this COVID era affected the government sector. The revenue of the government has reduced, which will hamper the development. Government has come up with Mudra Yojana and unsecured loans to MSME. As MSMEs are affected, the challenge for government is to bring things back on track. He also said that the government has reduced the intake at the moment, but in near future there will be many recruitments coming up. He concluded his talk by saying, “Let’s not lose hope!”.

He worked as finance and logistic consultant in the department of health and family, Govt. of Karnataka for more than 3 years. He did his Ph.D on cluster development programme for SME’s. under Karnatak University Dharwad. And now he is an audit officer in Karnataka State Audit and Accounts Department. He believes in his capacity and loves challenges with respect to his work.

Mr. Roystan Wilson Dsouza stressed on how one can be productive in this Lockdown period and insisted that students make use of the time to learn new skills and have a strong hold on Power Point, Excel, CV & prepare for mock interviews and also develop good network with good people.

Mr. Royston Wilson d’Souza is at present working as Associate Client Coverage Manager Standard Chartered Bank , London. He was a silent guy in the college and had a grate determination to succeed in life. He proved this by reaching to this post.

Mr. Avinash Beermale, Search Analyst – Digital Marketing, HP Inc., Bangalore, encouraged students to look at the positive side of the post COVID environment, where everyone is starting from Ground Zero. He also acknowledged the push given by COVID-19 on the Digital Marketing field by opening up new possibilities where the world is moving towards online and Digital Marketing being the next big thing.

Dillon Dixon D’Souza 2009-11 batch

Mr. Dhillon Dixon D’Souza, Sales and Marketing Manager, Mobis Parts, Middle East, Dubai gave statistical insights about the effect of Covid-19 on the 5 majorly impacted industries viz. Aviation, Transport, Travel and Tourism, Food and Hospitality and Automobile. Mr. Dhillon advised the crowd not to think of a crisis where jobs do not exist, but instead focus on developing communication, presentation, technical and digital media skills and insisted on attending computer training. He further suggested taking check points from the mentors on improvement and then work on those points. He concluded saying Covid-19 might slow down the Job Market but if a person is skilled nothing can impact his/her existence in the corporate.

Mr. Shabarish S. Rao, Area Retail Manager, Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Ltd., gave an insight into how as students we must Survive, Review and Drive ourselves through this pandemic. Stay healthy, decide which industry to work on and upgrade yourselves, he urged. There is no second chance in today’s world, he warned. Individuals should be flexible without having any location constraints and must be able to adapt to changes. He concluded his talk by saying, “Let’s not lose hope!”.

Adithya Kollaje 2011-13 batch

Mr. Adithya Kollaje, Recruitment Specialist, Juniper Networks, Bengaluru spoke. He cleared a main doubt most of the students are facing presently which is how the intermediate semester students getting promoted, is going to impact their recruitment. The speaker clearly insisted that the students work on skill development to tackle this problem and also shared his experience in the field of recruitment. Numerous insights on the opportunities in the post COVID era were specified by the speaker which will make every student industry-ready.

Mr. Prakyath Bhandary, Associate-People & Culture Team, Grant Thornton LLP, Bengaluru was the Alumni Guest. Mr. Prakyath Bhandary, spoke about his life at Sahyadri and how the institution shaped his future. He further urged students to take up opportunities that come their way to showcase their talent. He was delighted to recall his days of being the organizing committee member of the 1st edition of Sahyadri Whiz Quiz.

Mr. Roopesh Salian, the Chief Guest of the occasion is an alumnus from the 1st batch of Sahyadri MBA. Currently, he is a Senior Business Process Improvement Analyst at Northern Trust.
Alumni are the ambassadors of an institution and have responsibility towards academic and research oriented initiatives of their alma mater. The department organizes Alumni Meet every year to bring back the alumni to the campus, spend quality time with the faculty, view the growth of the institution in person, keep abreast of the progress the institution is making in terms of quality of education it is imparting and contribute to the continuous improvement of the institution wherever possible.

Mr. Prashanth Baliga, from the MBA batch of 2010 – 2012 was felicitated as the Alumni for the Month of August 2015 by the Department of Business Administration in a programme oganised by the department. He is known for his talent in extraordinary creative thinking and graphic designing. He has worked as a Technical Trainer at NIIT, Mangaluru. Apart from being a Freelance Graphic Designer and a Technical Trainer, he is a businessman and deals with Godrej Interior products in Mangaluru, under the firm name "Baliga sales & service". He had designed a web application called “CyBeR $pY” to trace cyber criminals which was highly appreciated by the Mayor of City corporation and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru.He also owns few brands of his own, namely Reborn T-shirts and Keydrivers Mangaluru. He is the proprietor of virtual freelance designing firm by the name PBDesigns which is getting its popularity at the speed of sound! During his MBA, he had not only won various awards in inter-collegiate marketing events but was also awarded the Best Student of the Year 2010-2012 for extracurricular activities. Mr. Prashanth Baliga addressed the final year MBA students and inspired them to think differently and indulge in creative projects that will enhance their employability.

Mr. Roshan Ballal, Associate-Accounts Maintenance, HSBC, Bangalore and an alumnus of the College was awarded the MBA Alumnus of the Month award. He addressed the first year students on the various skills required by the industry and how students have to thoroughly prepare themselves. He appraised the students on interviews, dress sense, email etiquette, etc. Students thoroughly enjoyed the interaction.

Ashrith Nonda , Senior HR Executive, Epicor Software India and alumnus of the College 2011-13 MBA batch, addressed the HR students on `Social Media Marketing and its Challenges.’ He emphasized the importance of internships and project work for a fresher when entering the corporate world. He cherished the memories of his student life at Sahyadri and urged the student to be positive, have a value-based living and be inquisitive to learn new things every day. He said that if one wants to be successful one always needs to take up challenging roles rather than a routine one's. Ashrith will soon be back to conduct a placement drive.
